Sulph-ac was a favorite remedy of the Middle Ages, being used extensively in dilution in the treatment of scrofulous, phagedenic, cancerous and venereal ulcers, as a gargle and mouth-wash for aphthae, ulceration of the gums and diphtheria. It was given as "Mineral Lemonade" in cases of lead poisoning.

ESSENCE - Polarity: periods of hyperactivity alternating or followed by periods of fatigue (fire à ashes). Burning a candle from both ends à crash (this is when they usually come in). While they are exerting, the fire is burning very hot, when they stop exerting, they cool off very fast. - Sulph-ac has all Sulphur’s features (ambition, strong need for recognition, theorizing, driven, etc.), but these features are intensified (more passion and depth): hyper-driven to unify mental and theoretical concepts; hyper need to prove themselves. Unlike Sulphur, who is knowledgeable in many areas, but sometimes not too deep, Sulph-ac gets passionate in so many things and becomes very good in so many things, that eventually it burns him out. Unlike Sulph, Sulph-ac is more sensitive to the environment and has a strong need to be alone (Hydrogen’s influence. They get exhausted by being in society for a long time and doing all the things). Hurry is tremendous (since there are so many things they want to do); you can clone Sulph-ac 5 times and every one of them will be busy. GENERAL SYMPTOMS - Extreme FATIGUE (often follows a period of hyperactivity) … WEAKNESS … weakness out of proportion to the disease … TREMBLING WEAKNESS, esp. with exertion - Very CHILLY and < becoming COLD, esp. in depleted states … yet heat up fast with exertion and sweat easily - General aggravation from pollution (fumes, car exhausts, etc.) … chemical sensitivities … "finicky" sensitivities (Sulph-ac is a major industrial byproduct) - Erratic circulation: hot body and cold feet/hands. - SOURNESS (perspiration, body odor, HEARTBURN, vomit, breath) - Hemorrhages of dark blood from any of the orifices of the body PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS Neurological: severe neuralgia or fibromalagia with chronic fatigue (and often with the pains increase gradually and end abruptly) Eyes: intra-ocular hemorrhage, following trauma Mouth: CANKER SORES … burning aphthae, esp. when the whole GI tract is involved … gums bleed easily … offensive breath (sour) Stomach: gastritis … indigestion … chronic heartburn … crave: acid and sour, alcohol (and < from both) … aversion to H2O unless alcohol is added to it Female: < CLIMACTERIC PERIOD (flushes of heat, perspiration, weakness, internal tremor, hurriedness, bruises) … hot FLUSHES followed by trembling or cold sweat, < upper parts, > motion … acrid, burning leucorrhea often of bloody mucus ... erosion of cervix, easily bleeding Operations/injuries: gangrene after an operation or injury … deep bruising with yellow discoloration (usually after Arn.) … extreme fatigue after an operation Skin: see Sulphur … easy BRUISING … sulphuric odor (Sulph, Arn, Cham) … sour odor (= acid) … bad effects from mechanical injuries with bruises and livid skin … hemorrhage of black blood from all outlets … chilblains with gangrenous tendency … carbuncles, boils and other staphylococcic and streptococcic infections. |

Roger notes
The first thing to remember about Sulphuric Acid is that they are very hurried. After Tarentula, it is the most hurried remedy, second most hurried remedy. George used to describe them as people who were in their chairs giving you the symptoms before you had gotten the door closed, like that. There is nervousness and anxiety to get things done on time. You know that B. C. cartoon? There is a cartoon with B. C. and Thor walking real fast across the plains and B. C. says, "Where are we going?" Thor says, "I don’t know." B. C. says, "Well why are we walking so fast?" That’s Sulphuric Acid. Doesn’t know why, but waking fast, gets all in a huff, hurried, perspiring, and dripping with sweat and can’t slow down and doesn’t know why he’s going so fast. So, the second thing to know about the remedy is the aggravation from fumes, from exhaust fumes, from smoke, from smog. It is not just these people who say, "Oh, I have to have a pure environment." These are people who really get sick from fumes. You may consider it in these hypersensitivity cases where they can’t be around any fumes or odors. It is not so much just the odor, the scent that aggravates them. It is the idea that there is some sort of heaviness or an actual fume or smoke in the air. If it is just the odor, you will think more of Nux or Phosphorus. It is the main remedy for that kind of condition that comes on sometimes in a smoggy place where somebody in Los Angeles and they were in a very smoggy place and then they developed symptoms ever since then and now if they are ever around any fumes, they get weak and that kind of thing. Then you will think of Sulphuric Acid. Like all the other acids, Sulphuric Acid is a remedy that produces a lot of weakness. You know, Phosphoric Acid, Picric Acid, and Sulphuric Acid as well. Especially with the characteristic sense of internal sense of trembling. They feel that they are trembling but it is not visible. Calcarea is the main remedy with that. Sulphuric Acid has it also. There is another keynote, if you will, that the brain feels loose inside the head, and when they turn the head, when they tilt the head this way, they feel like the brain hits up against the skull here. If that turn it that way, they feel it floats over and hits the skull this way. It is a peculiar sensation. It is not the only remedy that has it. I think Cocculus maybe has that and Rhus Tox, but there is often a craving for brandy. It is said to follow Arnica sometimes after bruises that don’t resolve completely. It seems to compliment Arnica. Also it is said, and I have never seen it used for this, to produce sort of a sour odor in children with apathy where you might probably you would first think of Mercury or some of the other remedies, but maybe if you are seeing a remedy that a case is not responding. I have never seen it given under those indications. Just remember that with this remedy, just like the other remedy sometimes you won’t see the hurriedness be so prominent. I have seen people expecting to see the hurriedness be underlined four times and then not prescribe it when it was a case that was very sensitive to fumes and maybe just hurried underlined just once or maybe just impatient underlined a couple of times.
